Thank You to the Krogseth Foundation: Supporting Food Security in Pemberton

Sea to Sky Community Services is grateful to the Krogseth Foundation for its generous support of the Pemberton Food Bank.

At a time when many individuals and families are experiencing food insecurity, support like this helps ensure the Pemberton Food Bank can continue providing nutritious food and essential items with dignity, choice and care.

But the impact reaches beyond the Food Bank shelves.

Over the past year, SSCS food security programs provided 4,560 school lunches to students at Signal Hill Elementary and Pemberton Secondary School, delivered 280 snack packs to children during the summer school break and rescued and redistributed 16,600 pounds of produce. Another $44,000 was invested in culturally relevant foods, including Indigenous-grown berries, fish, red meat, and non-dairy and gluten-free options.

Together with local farms, schools, community groups, donors and volunteers, the Pemberton Food Bank is helping build a local food system that connects people with fresh, healthy and culturally relevant food when they need it.

As Leda North, SSCS Manager of Community Outreach Services, explains:

“The Food Bank is more than a place to get food. It’s a community hub where people are known, welcomed, and supported with dignity.”

That sense of dignity and belonging is also reflected in the volunteers who make the Food Bank possible week after week. Food Bank Coordinator Loralee describes them as community members who simply want to help others, creating a welcoming space where people are greeted without judgment and treated with respect.

The Krogseth Foundation has a history of supporting organizations working to strengthen communities across British Columbia, including organizations addressing food security, family well-being, health and other community needs. We are honoured to be among the organizations receiving that support.

Thank you to the Krogseth Foundation for investing in food security — and in a stronger, healthier and more connected Pemberton community.

Donors are one part of a much larger community that keeps the Pemberton Food Bank going. Meet the volunteers who show up week after week — stocking shelves, welcoming neighbours and helping create a space rooted in dignity and care.
