We’ve got big news in Childcare!

We’re excited to announce the opening of Mén̓mens ta smánit childcare centre at Valleycliffe Elementary School, in Squamish.

This project has been a true collaboration between the District of Squamish, School District 48, and Sea to Sky Community Services. $2.5 million in funding through the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund has provided the budget to build the space.

The name Mén̓mens ta smánit gifted in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh language, honours the mountain under which the children will play and learn, symbolizing protection, care, and cultural connection. You can hear the pronunciation of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh name here.

The centre provides 36 full-time childcare spaces (12 infant/toddler and 24 group care) for families in our community. SSCS will operate the centre, continuing our commitment to inclusive, high-quality early learning guided by the BC Early Learning Framework.

While the centre is now operational, we still need a few essential items to fully equip the space. Please consider a donation today to help bring it all together. Your support in spreading the word will go a long way!
