May is Childcare Appreciation Month, when we get to give a little extra love to the educators who create the safe, joyful, and nurturing spaces where children learn and grow.
In our childcare programs, families see this care in action every day — in the way educators support transitions, celebrate milestones, and help children feel confident and connected. We spoke with one parent about what this care has meant for their family.
What has your family appreciated most about our SSCS childcare program and the educators who support your child each day?
We love how supportive and fun they are! We have noticed huge progress in independence and developmental leaps since having our child in the SSCS childcare program. Our child has learned so much and has had so much fun along the way.
How have the educators created a sense of belonging or confidence for your child within the classroom?
Our child initially had a hard time transitioning into childcare since just being at home with family and now he never wants to leave at the end of the day. He really feels like he belongs there and gets excited about going to preschool.
The team often supports families by sharing community, provincial, and federal resources. How has this guidance made a difference for you?
The SSCS team made us aware of funding that we didn’t know what we could qualify for so help with the costs of childcare
Can you share a moment when you felt especially grateful for the childcare program educators?
I love when they send pictures from a regular day and I see how fun and free our child feels playing with classmates
Hearing from parents like this reflect the heart of our childcare programs: educators who show up with patience, creativity, and genuine care, helping children feel seen, supported, and excited to learn. We’re deeply grateful to our childcare team for the meaningful difference they make in the lives of children and families across our community.
