2022/23 was a year of growth, resilience and new beginnings for Sea to Sky Community Services. Across the Corridor, there were 6,905 visits accessing SSCS programs and services, with support ranging from children and families to youth, housing, food security, seniors and community living.
Children’s Services alone supported 3,441 visits, representing half the visits to SSCS that year. Seven childcare programs became $10-a-Day ChildCareBC Centres, making care significantly more affordable for local families.
It was also a milestone year for youth services. In March 2023, Foundry Sea to Sky officially opened its doors, bringing health and wellness services for young people together under one roof alongside the new Youth Hub.
Housing also took a major step forward with the opening of Spirit Creek Apartments, adding 76 affordable homes in Squamish. At the same time, approval moved forward for 63 new affordable homes at Harrow Road in Pemberton, extending SSCS’s commitment to creating safe, stable and connected communities throughout the Corridor.
Across SSCS, programs continued to respond to growing and changing needs — including a 40% increase in housing services, 295% increase in legal advocacy and 40% growth in S.P.A.R.K.
