Together, We’re Building Community
In 2021/22, Sea to Sky Community Services continued to respond to the changing needs of our communities, even as staffing shortages and the ongoing impacts of the pandemic created new challenges. Despite those pressures, we had 6,946 visits to 41 programs and services across the Sea to Sky Corridor.
Children and families remained at the heart of our work, with 44% of program participants accessing Children’s Services. Programs helped families prepare children for school, supported healthy development and pregnancy, and created opportunities for connection during an especially challenging time for families.
Community needs were also growing. SSCS increased capacity in several critical programs, including Victim Services, Stopping the Violence Outreach, and Homeless Prevention and Outreach, while Better at Home helped 112 seniors remain in their homes longer and 258 people received support to prevent homelessness.
At the same time, we were building for the future. The $2.2-million Foundry Sea to Sky fundraising campaign reached its goal, construction continued on Spirit Creek and its 76 affordable homes, and preliminary approval was received for another 63 affordable homes and new social service spaces in Pemberton.
Our 2021/22 Annual Report tells the story of a year of resilience, connection and progress — continuing to meet immediate needs while building the services and spaces our communities will need for years to come.
