From early learning to food security, here’s how Sea to Sky Community Services (SSCS) helps kids, families, and communities thrive across the Corridor.
1. Serving 1 in 10 People in the Corridor
Last year, SSCS reached 7,300 individuals — that’s 11% of the entire Sea to Sky population. From seniors in remote communities to newborns in Squamish, our programs support people at every stage of life.
41% of people we served were children under 12 — making kids our largest age group.
2. Affordable Childcare That Families Can Count On
With 180 out of 236 childcare spaces offered through the $10 a Day ChildCareBC program, SSCS is making it possible for local parents to access high-quality care — and return to work without breaking the bank.
“The staff are like an extension of our family. We’re so grateful.”
– Childcare Parent
3. SPARKing Early Learning Across the Corridor
The S.P.A.R.K. program prepares young children for kindergarten and strengthens caregivers’ confidence — even in remote communities like Tipella, Skatin, and Samahquam, north of Pemberton.
With nearly 800 families reached this past year, S.P.A.R.K. is giving kids the strongest possible start.
“My child is more confident and social — and I feel more prepared, too.” – Parent of a child enrolled in S.P.A.R.K.
4. Supporting Moms and Babies with HPOP
The Healthy Pregnancy Outreach Program (HPOP) provides prenatal nutrition, peer support, parenting guidance, and essential resources to new and expectant parents—laying the foundation for lifelong health and wellbeing.
One mom shared, “As a first time Mom I have gotten so much out of HPOP! I learn something every time. I have met a lot of other moms at the same stage who have become a huge support system for me. I can’t thank this group enough.”
HPOP is one of our most beloved programs—its growing popularity is a reflection of the lasting impact it has on parents and babies across the Sea to Sky.
5. Strengthening Food Security from Pemberton to D’Arcy
Through the Pemberton Regional Food Hub, SSCS is connecting local food to local families. Highlights include:
- 3,500 lbs of rescued farm food
- 1,320 lbs of produce grown by students
- more than 49,500 program visits
“Our shared vision is a sustainably fed Sea to Sky Corridor, where locally sourced food fuels our communities.” – Sea to Sky Community Services
6. Tackling Mental Health & Substance Use Challenges for Youth
SSCS offers counselling, peer support, and safe spaces for youth navigating complex mental health and substance use issues through Foundry Sea to Sky. We recognize that a strong future starts with support today.
Many youth access multiple services — from clinical care to outreach to housing.
7. Serving the Whole Corridor — Not Just One Town
30% of people served by SSCS programs and services live outside of Squamish. Our regional reach includes:
- Mount Currie & Lil’wat Nation: 848
- Pemberton & area: 1,016
- Whistler: 603
- Britannia Beach & area: 31
SSCS designs its services around how people live in the Corridor — connected, mobile, and regional.
8. Integrated Services for the Whole Family
1 in 3 SSCS clients access more than one program — from food access to family supports to mental health services. This shows just how interconnected community needs really are — and how vital wraparound care is.
9. Building Resilience through Education & Outreach
Whether it’s parenting workshops, financial literacy, or child development education, SSCS equips people with skills to thrive today and plan for tomorrow.
“We need more workshops like this — for positive discipline, healthy relationships, confidence.” – Parent enrolled in S.P.A.R.K.
10. Rooted in Community, Growing Toward the Future
For more than 45 years, SSCS has been deeply embedded in the communities of the Sea to Sky Corridor, guided by the voices of the people who live here. With 40+ programs and services, a regional team, and growing infrastructure, we’re building a future where every child, every family, and every community can thrive.
